Hybrid Events
A hybrid event is a trade-show, conference, unconference, seminar, workshop or other meeting that combines a “live” in-person event with a “virtual” online component.
There are a few types of hybrid event, internal and external are the basic 2 types. An internal hybrid event is a program which benefits internal employees of a company where it is usually not possible to co-ordinate employees schedules to be available at the same time. An external hybrid event is a program targeted towards those external to your company, like your client’s or prospects.
A hybrid event has all the benefits of a virtual event with an added in-person element. Hybrid events also offer a greater ROI (return on investment) due to the scalability of the event.
All future events should follow the HYBRID EVENT model to ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Greater involvement of participants, meaning more energy and more involvement. You discuss the idea’s you are interested in.
- More flexibility on topics which are relevant. While the program is less rigid – it does still take a bit of planning to guide participants in the right direction.
- Unexpected discoveries. Getting all the participants on the same wave length and thinking, will lead to the unexpected discovery of topics that are of great interest and importance.
- Maximise the value of the dialogue that happens in this setting
- Spontaneous conversations: Often the most valuable parts of a conference are the informal conversations that happen between people in different teams or roles, who don’t normally work together. People get to know each other, exchange knowledge, and build trust. The open space format encourages this.

Examples of hybrid events we have done: Social Justice Summit, French Policy Workshop, 5th Af-SGW Workshop, 1st IAA African Symposium on Small Satellites, Indigo Waves
